At the LARA AGM on 18 July 2013 held at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, Janet Neustein was returned to office as President, Annette Hicks as Treasurer, and Michael Neustein as Secretary. New to the Executive is Melanie Hawyes, Vice President. Melanie is the Director, Education, Families and Communities, NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet. She is also a young mother. The LARA committee also has a new addition: Pat Evans (NSW) joins Marion Lang (VIC), Ros Pollard (VIC) and Kate Wingrave (WA). Pat has a tremendous experience as a career fundraiser and administrator for a major not-for-profit organisation. Following the AGM, researchers Dr Lyn Moir, Dr Nessa Banville and PhD candidate, Patrick Ng spoke about their work with LAM. Patrick recently submitted his thesis on Cellular Characteristics of Lymphangioleiomyomatosis. His research at the Woolcock Institute has been totally funded by LARA.
