Rare Disease Day 2013

One person in 20 is affected by a rare disease. Over 6000 different rare diseases affect children and adults worldwide.Most are genetic, chronic and debilitating. They often isolate patients and their families. The sixth Rare Disease Day, 28 February 2013 advocated “Rare Disorders without Borders” – the need for international co-operation with doctors, researchers, policymakers and patients working together.
